About the Complex - Current Status

Soccer Players While we undertake feasibility studies on the San Benito site, we will also continue to focus on raising awareness and marketing the Foundation's goals, as well as creating a strong leadership team to ensure fundraising success.

Benefits and success factors of the Silicon Valley Soccer Complex:

  • District 2 is known as one of the outstanding soccer districts in California. We owe it to the players, coaches, and parents to provide a complex that will allow continuation of this superb tradition of soccer excellence.
  • The number of athletes registering to play in District 2 continues to grow, and there is a need to accommodate all athletes who want to play soccer.
  • The Complex will add capacity in the District, providing additional fields for all players. With many of the current fields available only on a limited basis and/or not available at all on certain days, the new Complex will help relieve this situation.
  • Soccer PlayersMore competitive teams will come to District 2 to compete at the Complex and therefore serve up better competition for our players.
  • The Complex will serve a vital geographical area centered in Silicon Valley, and impact all of the Bay Area and Northern California.
  • Communities and school districts in District 2 that have a limited number of fields and constrained financial resources for field maintenance will truly be served by the Complex.
  • The Complex will provide many new recreational opportunities for youth soccer that will be unavailable if it is not built.
  • The Complex has broad community support from cities, leagues, and clubs achieved through results from over two years of planning. It will have a positive impact on thousands of California youths for decades to come.
  • A very diverse population from economic, ethnicity, and racial perspectives will benefit from the Complex.

What are the values of soccer for youth players:

  • The sport builds a strong sense of commitment and sensitivity to time management.
  • Soccer is a natural for building teamwork, and how that pays off—both in skill-building and getting to the desired objective.
  • Soccer often brings the family closer together, as parents are able to work with their children.
  • It teaches good sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Soccer helps kids learn how to recover from their mistakes and bounce back quickly.
  • It builds self-confidence.
  • Soccer builds healthy lifestyles that can set a life-pattern.
  • Our sport provides opportunity for leadership at many levels.
  • Kids learn how to handle competition.
  • With soccer, there can be a commitment to continuous improvement.
